1999 5-spd. Ranger as listed under avatar, bone stock.
Recently noticed that vacuum hoses to my PVHubs had disintegrated. I replaced those, which immediately restored my 4-HI function, with appropriate clicks and dash light feedback when engaged. When switching to 4-LO, I immediately hear the same clicks, see the '4WD LOW' light come on, but... I don't hear/feel the heavy CLUNK that I (dimly) remember coming from T-case, and, sure enough, I'm still ACTUALLY in 4-HI mode. If the shift motor is not rotating selector shaft all the way to 4-LO position, would dashbd. indicator light still illuminate? I plan to pull and lube that puppy anyway, but don't want to get my hopes up if not the culprit. I've perused all relevant threads (AFAICT), incl. Sasquatch's bullet-point checklist of conditions that must be met to engage 4-LO, but that leaves me with a few follow-on questions: > BJB fuse 13 (20A)... what does "BJB" stand for? (No GF/ex-wife jokes, lulz) > Digital transmission range (TR) sensor... never heard of it, What the Hey? Not sure how "smart" GEM/control module is as far as what inputs = OK to light up 4-LO dash indicator...?? OTOH, I'm pretty sure it's not due to removing the lame 'Sport' decals from the rear fenders, lol. |

Additional fault/symptom: system doesn't care if in M5OD is in neutral or in gear, so long as clutch and brake are depressed... bad NSS?
