Keep in mind that the part Ford priced you isn't just the stamped steel backing plate. It is the whole, pre-assembled, parking brake.

Thats the worst part from getting it from ford. LMC didnt have what I was looking for. However Currie Enterprises has them for 90/each, still not what I am looking for but a hell of a lot cheaper then ford. Hope the guy on the explorer forum is still making them.
Thanks for the help fella's |

Just run without them. Took the dust shields off front and rear on my D60's all they do is trap rocks inbetween and get beat up...

You do understand that they are mor ethen just DUST sheilds. At highway speeds they also assist in directing air flow over the rotors to assist in cooling.

At highway speeds how much are you using your brakes?
The backing plates on the disc brake 8.8 are also the caliper mounts.

There's a caliper mount AND a stamped backing plate. What exactly are you looking for?
