Alright, I've made references to the explorer before. well here's the thread on it. Put it in RBV's under construction b/c we are about to start some work on it. Starting w/ the paint!!! then some motor mods to try to boost up the fuel economy. nothing like what my b2 is. :D

specs:
mostly stock 92 2wd explorer 4 door.
4.0
a4ld
3.73 LSD
39,350 showing on the dash.. probably 239,350
cheap vr3 walmart radio w/ usb, aux input
eBay clear headlights and corners

only pic i have right now. but i'll take more.. and take some through out the painting process and all.
right now i'm looking for the best place to get the door trim and stuff so we can get it ordered to have on the way. new paint means new trim to :icon_bounceblue:

but yeah, this thread won't be near as much as my b2. but hey, its a nice explorer and runs great. its the reason i wanted a 4.0 in my b2. we bought this explorer back in like 96. it was stolen off the used car lot and wrecked, we knew the guy that owned the lot so we bought it wrecked and replaced the fender, headlight assembly, and the grille, and repaired the hood.. then later we swapped the doors off my donor ex (it was same year, color, and 4 door) b/c the window motors and trim was better.

this is also usually our back up vehicle, but since it gets better gas mileage than the silverado-- my dad is driving it now.

nice looking explorer , i had a ranger with that same color paint a while back , one place that sells parts for explorers is www.lmctruck.com , do you plan to keep it 2wd or are you going to swap it to 4wd

Keep it 2wd. It's my mom's actually. My dad is driving it now. But it's just a DD.

well pulled it in the yard today.. stripped all the trim, bumpers, grille, luggage rack, and so on off of it today. getting ready for paint..

now HELP....

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET FACTORY DOOR TRIM FOR IT???

I have no idea, but trim's over rated, you're good enough to fab something that looks better anyway

we're not really wanting custom here.. if it was up to me. i have a d35 ttb axle and another trans and t/case.. i'd made it 4x4. all i would need is front gears. the donor ex for my b2 is the same year and color as this on. only difference is the donor is 4x4, red interior, and 3.27 gears (why did ford think 3.27's were a good idea??????????)

here's what it looks like now... its kinda sad looking

but its all for the best.. paint coming soon.

My Explorer has 3.27's. They are without a doubt the best gearing in any vehicle ever!! :annoyed: Terrible acceleration, lower than average city MPG... I will say pulling 22mpg at a constant 60mph is about the only positive thing to come of my 3.27's. I would kill for 3.73's.

if you need paint scheme suggestions, let me know. i have them coming out the wazoo.....here's what i'm thinking right now

nah... its staying stock paint.. we'll it'll be close. b/c that strawberry basset whatever red is EXPENSIVE!!!

and yeah i agree. my brother's ex has 3.27's and it sucks! its terrible. i love the 3.73's its a good all around gear for the explorer. i think if it was drove more on the interstate, then 3.55's would be a perfect all around gear.

uh oh... its being stripped. everyone look away! lol

A 2wd SUV is like putting a screen door on a submarine....makes no sence at all to me.

Looks like all is going great so far.

It's a great DD for people that don't like a car.. And this one runs so good.. So... I like it.

Bring that axle down here and swap it with my 3.73 L/S 8.8 thats on my trailer and give me $30 :D
