level kits vs torsion crank

i want to level out my ranger and i had a question. what is a better way to do it? i hear about everyone cranking the t-bars but then i read about the level kits as well. which is better? the level kits arent that expensive so as far as saving money thats not really a problem. i just want to know which is a better idea as far as making my ranger last for the long haul as well as the ride quality. thanks guys!

The leveling kit is only for the 2wd vehicles ( they have springs ) the 4wd trucks have t-bars. so the only real option for us 4x4 truck owners is the t-bar crank

the tech library says the TRUXXX makes it for 4x4...can anyone help me out?

you stock keys have more than enough adjustment to level your truck, so just crank you bars and have the front aligned

does cranking the t bars and a level kit effect the ride differently? if so how?

i was told that they do but i am still looking into it. i was told that when you crank the torsion bars you get a stiffer ride, makes sense, or you could buy the "leveling keys" which will give you one to two inches while maintaning factory feel, or you could go even higher with them. the only draw back is that they are supposidly difficult to get in. again thats what i have heard.

i have the exact same question... will this affect the front diff... i hear they wear out.

Before I put the BFG's on I cranked my T-bars. It was a rougher ride. After I put the 31's on I dropped it back down. It all depends on how you like it. If you want that extra inch or so in the front crank the tbars. I wouldn't recommend the levelling kit, although I do not know anyone who has ever used one.

i have the leveling kit they are a waste of money and if you push them past what the factory can lift you will break your CV joints. and no they dont leave a factory ride. the ride is just as stiff as just cranking the bars with stock keys. if you want to put 31's on your truck crank the t-bars 14 turns.

The only thing that the Truxx kit allows you to do is to crank the torsion bars beyond what the factory keys will allow. It isn't recommended to go past 1.5-2" of lift in the front by cranking the torsion bars because of the geometry of the front end. The factory keys usually will have enough adjustment left in them to accomplish this. It also isn't physically possible for them to "maintain the factory ride" unless the truck is set at the factory height. They adjust the preload on the torsion bar to raise or lower the front end, that's it.

The one thing they list multiple times on their website is that it maintains stock ride quality, which is complete bullshit. The fact that they recommend up to a 3 inch lift in the front with their keys means they have no clue how that suspension is set up from the factory. Their no magic in that little piece of steel that holds your torsion bar in place. In the rare event that your factory keys do not have enough adjustment left in them, then feel free to buy the truxxx kit after you've made sure someone else hasn't already cranked your torsion bars before you.

14 cranks the max i could get on mine was 7 the driver side bolt all the way in and the pass only 4 cranks. why would yours be so much more than mine?

Im running fabtech spindles with truxx torsion keys on my 08 ranger sport 4x2 , and the ride isnt far off from stock, i got a good 2.5 inches out of them
... just a heads up though if your gettin em, there a bitch to install

Cranking the bars or adding keys does the exact same thing. Either way, yer just clockin the bar over farther. The lift keys just allow you to clock the bars farther than the stock keys.
