Totally agree! Something like a spread sheet that would show all the data: year, engine, transmission, 4x4 or not and how they fit.

It is ? Better go back and read what little is there. It's not much. And none of the header choices we've been discussing lately are there. And some of the other advice is questionable. Like centering the motor between the frame rails. I tried that, it's almost impossible as the rails aren't paralell and aren't centered under the body. The motor needs to be centered using the fenders as a guide. and the trans tail aimed at the pinion.

yeah, i just hit that problem in my swap yesterday. i think ford designed the front framerails with 2 different wet noodles as a guide.

How about instead of expecting someone else to do it, why don't you post the info and if a Moderator thinks it is worthy of a Sticky, then we will. We will also update the tech library page with the info. The only problem is, no one has posted valid info on the topic.

We don't just sticky any ole topic for the heck of it.

This is what I have gleaned from this site in my own swap thread, the pics were posted in my thread or I dug up elsewhere on this forum, plus I have a couple of my own in there.

Hedman 88400's, truck unknown:

In my truck, of note is that these headers are intended for 1960's cars with a front mounted dipstick. For best results you have to use a steel dipstick tube because it is tight between the header and the block. Passenger side outlet pretty much requires a bodylift (I have 3") or extensive firewall beating.

Shelby Tri-Y's, '89 2wd with a 157t C4, Baddad's.

Why Tri-Y's won't work with a 4x4, my truck with stock suspension. The 2.8 and A4LD are still in place as well.

Why they have a problem with the 164t bellhousing. That is a 164t seperator plate. On my engine.

Patriot H8430's, in Wade's truck. It looks like he is using the V6 mounts with a plate vs the fox convert/sn95 mounts that Totalled used with the 88400's, that might effect the height of the engine relative to the frame.

Since people are always asking about SN-95 Mustang headers, and some say they do work while most say they don't I decided to check into it.

The engine is sitting on the engine mount studs so it will sit lower (probably an inch or two) in real life.

The driver side looked like it would fit (and is supposed to) but I wasn't gung-ho enough to try to snake it up from underneith by myself.

FYI I tried the factory mustang headers as seen in the last set of pics of your post (factory foxbody exhaust tube manifold) on my 1988 ranger with std steering and trans dapt style motor mount adapters, they would not fit either side, passenger side header pipes and collector hit frame and cannot align hole with head exhaust ports (approx 1 to 1 1/2 inch off), on drivers side front exhaust tube want to occupy same location as steering box shaft (could be cut and re-routed but why bother). If your motor sits very high in frame maybe they will work but they do not flow well, I only use them for exhaust system on my run in stand.

I have heard they don't fit at all.

The ones I have shown are SN-95 (94-95 Mustang, these are off a '94), they rerouted the DS header so it would work.
