who has thought of drifting a ranger

i'm trying to get my ranger ready to drift. any recomindations on adding power and suspension setup?

I've done a lot of drifting in my '87. On snow covered roads!
Your suspension should be pretty well set up(reading your profile). You need a good locker or better yet, A spool. I would want a lot more motor than a v6. A well built 331 should be about right. Just my opinion.

the v6 is all i can run in california. i'm going to turbo charge it. that shoud help with my power issues

i was just drifting my ranger......broke all thier straps too doing it...

the drunken bastards....they should at least have bought some mud tires for the area they were at

...you can run the v8 in cali. just need to use all the emmision equipment and shop around for a good smog nazi.

if you stick with a v6 shitcan the 2.9 and swap in a later cammer 3.0 with a supercharger...or supercharge a reg 3.0.

though a hot 2.3 turbo may work best and cheapest...

what would be the biggest v8 that i could run? i want to drift it on the road.

if it were me, i would run a hemi or a trans am setup with a 6 speed.

a complete late model stock setup would get the job done nicely in a ass light ranger.

i suggest o2 or newer, get the aftermarket smog compliant harness setup for 5-600 and its a cake swap. real cake swap. your gonna need to spend some bux on exaust though or buy a late model frame to put your body on

that is a good point. the only thing is that i don't got the time nor the cash for it rite now. and i hate riding a bike in cold ass weather. i'm looking for cheap boltons to make enough power to slide the bitch.

or some spray. a 50 hp slipper shot of spray and 6200 limiter

what would be the max boost pressure i could run on the 2.9? i was plaining to run 12-15 lbs

that would be too high for a 2.9, i would only run 5psi on a stock setup, and get a small very quick spooling turbo, with drifting if u have a delay in power in can cost u greatly, but 5psi on a 2.9 should be more then enough to keep the ass end out in a ranger, and maybe some 4.10's and weld up the ass end if ur keepin it on the cheap

also, a lower profile b traction tire would be ideal, lower profile tires wont flex as much and there easier to get out when drifing

i was already plaining to get a set of low pro tires. thanks for the boost tip. do you have any advise on shaving some weight. i'm thinking of making a carbon fiber hood. and front fenders (if i don't screw up the hood)

u dont need to shave weight with a ranger, beleive it or not, a turbo ranger is almost PERFECTLY setup for drift, u may want to look into a stiffer rear suspension, we put air shocks in the back of my buddys truck to stiffen it up so it wont squat when he hammers it through a corner

also, i would look into something along the lines of ladder bars to keep the ass end tight and keep the axle straight in the back of the truck. and i would run some lightweight 18's aswell, gives u less rotational resistance

i was thinking of putting on some enkie rims but i don't kno how much the weight. i have to put a roll cage in so i can enter in the tandem events. i might build one prom scrach or buy one any sugestions? if any one has found one please link it.

If you are going to spend money on wheels, buy forged aluminum. I have a set that i have used (ENKEI) offroad and ruined but, for the street or drifting, they would be perfect. You want all your weight in the front chassis, not in wheels. Don't lighten the front to much, you need the weight to keep the front tires planted. Lighten the back as much as you can. You want a box cover of some sort though. light as possible. Cut the skins off the box and make a silhouette box with a cover!

haven't thought of that..... to put it in simple terms your saying gut the bed to take as much weight out of the back as possible. i would like to use some carbon fiber on my truck. i like the look of it. what is the size difference of the 89 tb and the 86-87 tb's? i would like to kno to nite going to pick and pull tomorrow already found a donor 86.
