This is hypothetical (kind of) so bear with me. I hate electronics and always have, if I wanted to eliminate the fuel injection system on a 2.9, would swapping the intake, carb and other related parts off of a 2.8 work? I've seen it done on small block Chevs quite often, but is there some raodblock I'm not aware of?
I'm asking because I have a chance to grab a spare 2.9 and it seems to me that the speed density system is quite limiting when it comes to modifications.
On the other hand, if it was carbed, I could do a cam swap, headers, and what not and it would actually make a difference.
Or I could just find a 2.8 and build the snot out of it as there is a TON of aftermarket goodies for it.
I'm not looking for a speed demon here, but other than a K&N and maybe opening up the exhaust, all other mods seem pointless because of the computer system that the 2.9 uses.
