Anyone know if the 17" steel wheels from a Crown Vic will work on a 99 4wd Ranger?

.

Ummm.............

Should, I've got a set I use to roll my project Rangers around on, but mine are 2wd.................

Yeah, I am wondering if it will clear the 4wd hubs on the front.

They should. I assume backspacing is same as other Panther wheels. Most steel wheels have a larger hub-hole. Also look at the newer dodge charger wheels (police package has steel 17's other trims might?). They are the 5x4.5 bolt pattern. I'm not sure about the backspacing on those though.

The Dodge Charger does not have 5x4.5 bolt pattern, it has a 5x115 bolt pattern. the true 5x4.5 = 5x114.3 in metric. that .7mm difference will probably not be an issue w/ steelies, but over time might be an issue w/ alloys or aluminum.

The Dodge intrepid steel wheels are true 5x4.5 and I know for a fact that they will fit just fine over the 4wd hubs on the ranger. I have used my 15" spare from my 94 Intrepid a few times on my ranger last year before I got my new tires.

The wheel studs on the charger are also larger in diameter than the ranger and intrepid. (the new car that we have is an 09 Charger...I liked the wheels on it and thought about getting a set for the Intrepid... this is how I found out all of this)

My bad :dunno:

i have the 17" steelies off the dodge charger rwd, not sure if awd back spacing is different. They fit just fine. seem to stick out a tiny more than stock wheels on my 95. the center hub bore on the wheel was the perfect size for the hubs on the ttb front end.

Where did you get the center caps? I have a set of CV steelies in craigslist here, and I wouldnt mind running them on my tires.

You just gotta look around for some center caps online or in a junkyard. LMC has them for about $50 a piece. You can find cheapo aftermarket ones on ebay. Dont forget you need the lugnuts that those center caps clip on to.

If you have the lugs, your original ranger centercaps will work. If not, I would look at the junkyards and fleabay. just remember if you don't have the lugs w/ the lip on them, the caps won't work..
