hi guys, i just wanted to first say that i have done a lot of research and looking around in the tech library.

but i have a question regarding whether or not a 5.0L from a 89 Bronco w/ a 5 Speed manual transmission will work in a V8 swap into a 93 4x4 Ranger 4.0 5 speed, like all the other 5.0's done from mustangs and F150's.

i just wanted to know because i found a good deal on the motor/tranny out of that Bronco, but want to make sure first. :icon_thumby:

thanks,
matt

The Bronco drivetrain will be the same as the F150. The engine and trans are no problem to fit, that Bronco t-case will be pretty large, you may want to consider looking for an older NP205 or 208 to avoid any frame cutting

Thanks matt, i am not going to run the Bronco T-case, i am buying an adapter to use my stock t-case in the stock location.

You do know that with the stock motor you will be adding a whole lot of weight and not much else? Your power/weight ratio will probably be lower. The exhaust will sound really good though.

That will work fine but you aren't guranteed the stock driveshafts will still fit. For the price you pay for that adapter you can get a fullsize t-case, and have a set of driveshafts made; making a stronger setup. Either way will work, but going the with the fullsize stuff you can use a larger u-joint.

ya that is true, but money isnt a big issue for me for this swap, so i think i am going to do the adapter. But I got a buddy that knows a place that modifies drive shafts, so i will have to check into that, maybe get a price quote, then go from there....

thanks for the concern
