So double checked my order, and I looks like I mistakenly purchased the fuel filler neck for a 6 foot styleside, my truck is a 7 foot styleside.

What are the differences in the filler necks?

I believe it is the same part, but I'm not 100% sure.
The opening on the 7ft bed is in the same spot on the bed as a 6ft bed.

My truck has the optional "extended range" tank. (aprox 21 gal).

6ft filler neck

Late update, but I installed the 6 foot filler neck on my 7 foot bed and it is 100% compatible. Filler necks listed for 6 foot bed Rangers are the exact same part as the ones listed for 7 foot beds, do not be fooled.

Word to the wise for those replacing filler necks, save yourself so much time and hassle and remove your bed. The bolts are Torx T-55 and located on the floor of the bed, be prepared to do battle with a breaker bar or a 1/2 drive ratchet with a decently long cheater pipe. I personally used a standard 3/8 drive ratchet with no problems (California truck :yahoo:). Oddly enough, I was also the first person to remove the bed, your results may vary! :dunno:

I did my 97 a few weeks ago. +1 on removing the bed. It took me longer to remove my bedliner to get to the bed bolts than it did to remove the actual bed.
