I was cruising Kijiji........again. It's kinda like craig'slist. I found an ad for a Bear engine analyzer.....for free!
I brought it home.

At the least it can be gutted and turned into a mobile work station, at the best I'll have a piece of machinery to....
wait for it....
analyze engines.
I don't have much of an idea of what these machines do, I'm not a trained mechanic....I know enough to be dangerous. I do know that this one has exhaust gas analyzing capabilities. There are no manuals, tho they are available for $25-$30. I found a floppy drive that had one 3.5" floppy in it dated 1998 and seeming to have data pertaining to the years '92-'96. I haven't powered up the machine, I may do that Sunday. I was told that the gas analyzing works but there are a few leads that are boogered but don't have more details. I'm not great with electrical but am trying to learn. I have played around with '60's era engines many years ago and in the last few years have started again as well as learning OBD-1 for my Rangers/B-IIs.
Sooo.... Is it something worth my time and effort to learn about and possibly fix?
Any input?

Richard

If you learn anything from it it's worth the price. learning is a good thing.

Yeah, I'd say it's worth fixing up. Some of those types of things go for big bucks, if they work, now that OBDI cars are starting to become classic.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to pop for the manuals.

Richard

basically, that machine will give you most of the readings that a modern obdII engine will, but that will do it for any engine pretty well... hook that up to a model T and you've got diagnostics... it's basically obdII without the ob part, and of course a few omissions...
