too lazy to join the fullsize forum, if the mods would like to see this somewhere else, by all means move it.

I've got a '95 f-250 HD with a 7.3 psd. those of you that have them know they are a cold running engine. well this time of year i like to start the truck early to defrost and just warm it up a bit. well sitting at idle i could let it run for an hour and it still wouldn't defrost or warm up the cab. I know these trucks have provisions for a pto and therefore have a provision for a high idle switch. anyone know what wire(s) i need for a high idle switch?

Hmm, I know that on our 2000 it has a bit of an automatic high idle... if the thing gets too cold, it idles itself up higher and stays there until it thinks its warm enough for normal idle.

I'd like to see the results of this.

I'd look into that. At my last job we had a '99 f450 with the 7.3psd and it was plenty warm within 20 minutes....to the point where you had to turn the heat down. No high idle switch and no auto high idle either. Although, it would've been nice to run the pto tho. lol
