91 Ranger 2.3 4 cyl. 136k. Wanting to replace with 6 cyl. for some added power. Would like to know what the best option for engine is.
Would also what is required to complete the swap to meet Calif. emissions.
 
been quite awhile since i moved here from Ca. but, iirc, it has to be the same year or newer and meet all the emissions standards of the year of the engine. so if it were me, i'd find a good donor rbv with a 4.0 that hasn't been trashed and just swap it all... engine, tranny (and transfer case if you're 4x4).
just my $.02.
