my 2.9 is toast. I want a diesel truck but I cant afford one. im temp laid off right now so i aint got the cash flow for a 4btmy friend has a healthy 6.9 idi laying around he is going to give me a really good deal on. is it practical for one? I know ranger anything wont handle a 6.9 but ive already got 3/4 ton axles to put under it I just gotta put gears and yadda yadda. Ive got friends with plenty of diesel parts laying around (trannys that good stuff) will the frame take it it? will the tcase fit between the frame rails? what am i gonna have to torch? will it clear the firewall with a body lift? any input or info that can help would be awesome I dont wanna go gas I like smoke and excessive rattling :icon_thumby:

Well if you hav the time and help, it can be done.

Alot of qustions may not be able to be answered, those are thing you will find out as you put it together.

I will say it may be cheaper to do this then buy a new vehicle.

You wont know till ya dig in.

3 in body lift

if its just for fun, relocate the radiator from the donor truck to the bed.

otherwise, fullsize van radiator say from a 90 ish or gm type summit radiator with lincoln intech fans.

custom front k member....typical drivetrain cock and frame trim to clear the oem fullsize t case.

fullsize 79 4x4 steering gear and hybrid the 79/ranger steering shafts from column to the box...

hi steer arm for atleast the passenger side if your running leaf springs. can mod k truck linkage for this real easily.

if you go coils the steering is pretty much open to most options. but hi steer is usually best bet.

fuel lines.

brakes could be hydroboost conversion or just run a vac pump if the engine already has one and leave the regular vac booster setup with the 250 master
