hello, i was wondering if anyone could tell me about swaping my siezed 3.0 flex out for a non flex? i have been told i could use a 99,00,01 3.0, even from a taurus or sable, with just changing out my intake and fuel system since the flex works off the ecm.does anyone know any truth to this? thanks in advance for help!

The base engine of the 3.0 Vulcan Flex fuel is identical to the regular 3.0 Vulcan found in non-flex fuel vehicles, including the Taurus/Sable.

You will need to swap over your intake, fuel rail, and injectors. The Flex fuel system is a function of the PCM mostly. The fuel system is made from some more resilient materials to stand up to the corrosive effects of the ethanol.

adsm08.. thank you for the info, much apprecciated! i have always had rangers, and traded an 85 in on my 99 in 2000, 198004 miles, the check engine light came on, and the oli pressure dropped. within 2-3min, it just cut off, and we pulled her home, and sure enough .. crank wont turn... so now i am here, thanks again!

The combustion chamber in the flex fuel heads are different as well. Not a big deal unless you ever plan on using methanol.
