I bought a 2000 explorer eddie baur for 600 and I pulled the air filter out. After the filter was pulled out it won't stay running for more than a couple of minutes. I have tried plugs, new air filter and fuel filter. I also had to replace the crank sensor, due to the code coming up. Next code says left bank lean. I am getting plenty of fuel and it does start sometimes but I have to hold the gas peddle to the floor. Thank you in advance for any help. Almost forgot IT is a 4wd 2000 explorer with a 4.0 sohc and auto.

check your spark after it dies. If there's little or no spark, I'd go with coils.

I usually have more info right now...but it's late and my head isn't on straight.

I'll post more tomorrow when I get the time.

IAC is a good suspect with your symptoms, except for the lean code.

If the air box isn't down tight that can cause lean codes, but it's usually for both banks.

explorer stalls?

if your explorer has over 100k miles on it, it may be airaiting or lacking fuel... check to see if exaust fumes are verry hot (this will indicate lean conditions).. can also check fuel rail for proper pressure. you need above 40psi for a healthy efi system. i have had similar issues in 3 94 explorers and a 2000. all needed fuel pumps at 120-150k miles. and yes fuel pumps can still turn on and not produce pressure. make sure fuel filter is clean also. hope this helps
