1989 STX Ranger Suspension

1. What is the spring rate of the Skyjacker 4" springs?
2. Are they stiff enough to run without a swaybar?
3. With a 4" lift on a "High Rider" will the pitman arm need to be replaced
with a 4" drop?
4. Whats the best locking diff for the Ford 7.5?

if i remember correctly the highrider was done up to 88. even if you do have a highrider it will only be good for 2 inches of lift

always use the appropriate drop pitman arm for your lift. not using one will lead to trouble with alignment.

In 89 the 4WD STX the suspension was no longer called highrider. They called it Sport Rider but it still had the lift. At least that is the way it is described in the 89 STX brochure.

I owned an 89 STX for 13 years and I can assure you it had the lift but you are right it was only about 1.5 to 2 inches of lift.

SJ 4" coils are around 450 lbs-in. Lots of people run them without the swaybars.

If you do have the factory lifted suspension, the stock pitman arm in most cases should be acceptable with a lift that has a stated height of up to 4".
