trade me a 4wd m5od for my 2wd m5od. theres one around here where i got my pedals, he seems to be a wheeler and dealer. they have a 92 4wd for 650, and a 96 for 700. my 2wd one is a 97 with about 80k miles on it. theres some j/y's around here with cheaper ones but they seem to be pricks and dont negotiate anything. what can i say to get said junkyard to swap me out so i can keep my 4wd. i have an extra bw1350 i cant sell for shit, and i have a 97 driveshaft i was gonna shorten to get my shit on the road. think i should try to offer those up with my tranny in a trade? hell all of it was free so i wont be out anything. yall help me come up with some ideas

I'd start by trying to trade trans for trans, and then throw in the other stuff if they shoot you down.

thing is im about 40 miles from the place, prolly be better to go there instead of call huh? alot harder to say no face to face with the parts sittin at their doorstep

good thing is most places dont really mess with 4wd m5's around here they only mess with the 2wds, also their online inventory shows only one 2wd m5, and its parts only

if hes a real junky mechanic kinda guy tell him to stop bein a pussy and trade the trans. its a fair swap.

How are you gonna prove that your trans is in working order? if i was a sketchy jy dude that'd be my first thought.

my second would be "what's in it for me?" were you sayin that your trans is valuable to the then the one you're tryin to get off em? if not, then why would they bother? i guess thats where the t-case and other junk sweetens the deal.

anyways just some thoughts. there's only one jy in my city, the next closest is 4hours away so i gotta deal with some real surly folks! couldn't imagine tryin to trade em parts...

It took me a while, but I managed to find a 4.0L transmission and E-BW1354 for $50. Had all the parts I was after (extension housing and rear output shaft). And I got a good working t-case out of the deal.

deals are out there, junkyards usually don't make them though unless "you know a guy" or they don't know what they have/don't care.

If he wont trade you I would sell the tranny on craigslist then go buy his. You just gotta think like a weasel. or a salesman.
