On my 94 Explorer XLT, the red brake light would intermittently stay on when I released the parking brake. I noticed it generally only happened on rainy days. I've checked the fluid in the master cylinder, and the sensor for my parking break seems to be functional (the brake light dims slightly when the brake is released). For the last 4-5 days the light has remained constant. Any ideas on where to start sorting this out?

Pull up on the parking brake pedal... does the light go away?

The easiest fix is to just remove the bulb in the dash. Who really needs that light anyway?

The pedal isn't sagging, I know that. I want the bulb working right because the I want to keep this truck running and looking just as factory as possible inside. I also noticed on two occasions today that once I stopped at a stop sign, the light went out. I put it in first and take off, but once I clutch in to shift to second the light comes back...

Just had to ask about the pedal. My F250's brake light will do the exact same thing yours does... but if you push it up with your foot, it goes off and sometimes stays off. There's only like 1/4" play in it.

I think there's a low fluid level sensor or switch in the brake master cylinder... might check that

my b2 does it occasionally too. I unplugged the sensor on the master cylinder and found corrosion on the plugs and cleaned it up and all is well now.
