Ok so i got bored with my old build cuz it was taking me too long. I came across this so i decided to go another route. $1,500 for an 03 4x4 couldn't pass it up.

Here is the link to the old thread. still the same idea just a reg cab instead of an xcab. and i'm going to do a flat/tube bed.

looks good. gotta ask though wheres the bed? and it seems you have a small hole in the cab corner

very nice and great work

the hole is the repair i have to make. the truck was wrecked when i bought it clear down the drivers side. i tried pulling it out but it was way to bad. i have a panel from another truck i'm gonna patch in.

The bed is gonna be a custom build bed out of DOM and Aluminum. this is kinda the idea i drew up. the black is the inside wheel well. the DOM will be behind the aluminum panels. up in the corner is the rear i'm gonna use LED trailer lights and incorporate a hitch into it.

funinthemud

thanks i'm getting pumped about it. this has been in the making for 3 years and i am so close. it should be drivable by next week.

funinthemud

i may have missed it but are those 37s?

38" i know i'm gonna break stuff. but i like to push the limits. plus i had 35's on my b2 with the d28 and never broke anything. :D

kris97ranger
05-11-2011, 10:29 AM
meh its all in how you drive. unfortunatly i dont have a ranger anymore but im running the same tires on my samurai in the 33" flavour and im always told the axles wont hold up. to which i respond "well i havnt broken anything in the last 10 years, i think it'l be fine"

and right now im building some landcruiser axles for it and stepping up to a 38" swamper sx and am getting the same crap about how im gonn abe breaking axles. we'll see

Keep the skinny pedal away from the metal, and you will be fine. You start driving it balls to the wall, you WILL break stuff. No ifs, ands, or buts, about it. Ask Foxracin. He drives his balls to the wall and breaks stuff all the time. I drive mine pretty hard too, and break stuff. Take it easy, your axles will hold up, at least for a good long time.

funinthemud
05-11-2011, 10:56 AM
yea i learned from the b2 that its more about finesse than skinny peddle. but with this suspension being a world of difference i think i will be able to get myself into more trouble than the b2 would let me.

never heard of it but looks like checking into. i like trails and technical stuff, not so much the mud.. its fun every now and then but i like crawling around stuff that most people think "ur gonna go up that with a truck??" :icon_rofl:

sounds like my type of guy (no homo):icon_rofl: My Ranger has never seen "mud". Puddles, yes. Mud, HELL NO. I'm too lazy to clean it. lol

Ask 4.0B2 about the things i take my truck through....

Land between the Lakes, Livingston, Black Mountain OHV park, Harlan, are all right there in eastern and south eastern KY. Those will soon be my stomping grounds...

Maybe we can take two Rangers and show some of the Jeep and yota boys a thing or two.

LOL

kris97ranger
05-11-2011, 04:54 PM
i like every part of 4 wheeling. i like rocks/mud/trails. i have no predjudice. i do run alot of bogs though.

josh. the trick to a clean truck is after the bog you go park your truck in a river... or drive around in a lake up to your bumper. no cleanup!:icon_thumby:

Josh40601
05-11-2011, 05:04 PM
then you gotta go drain all your fluids and repack all the bearings... If you stick to rocks, you can go months without servicing :D (i dont think you should go months, but its safer than going months with water and mud in there.)

kris97ranger
05-11-2011, 05:09 PM
oh yea you drive yours daily... mine might get the bearings repacked once a year... if that. and why drain fluids? all my diffs and transmission and transfercase are vented. up to the firewall, i havent drained anything scince i put the new spool in the rear last year. ill pull the fill plug once in a while but thats about it.

plus just straight rocks get boring. i like a good mix of everything

Josh40601
05-11-2011, 05:15 PM
you should prolly change those fluids.....

For a trail only rig, I would say a minimum of 6 months. If you wheel it pretty regularly.

kris97ranger
05-11-2011, 05:18 PM
meh i just did the pinion seals and re-sealed the front end. (last time was done in a rush at 2am) just re-used the fluids it was still all good no water. it'll be fine. like i said it doesnt see street time. its not a ranger. i dunno if that matters
