Hey all, I was messing around at work the other day looking at reman-engines. I noticed that there were 2 different part numbers for the 2.9 in 89. So I called our supplier and he said they used two different styles in 89. Is that true?? I had an 86 when I was 16 and I remember adding oil on the passenger side, and now on my 89 its on the driver side. So was he telling me the truth?? I switched years and looked up and 88 and the engine part # was different. If this is true was one superior to the other?? and if one was how do I determine if mine is the better engine? I took a gander at the tech library and they showed a new head design for 89. Were head gaskets improved as well?? Just curious. A friend of mine at work has one as well and hes doing head gaskets. Doenst sound like a fun job.

When the second gen B2's came out, they redesigned the heads, but i don't think they changes all that much with them.

Supposedly there are different valve covers... one version seals better, pretty sure it's the later ones. Could be wrong.

There are also revised heads later on, like late 88/89 that don't crack as easy. World Products used to make 2.9 heads too. As far as I know that is the only difference in any of them though - everything should be interchangeable between all years.
