so the selector arm broke off. is there a way to replace it or just weld the shit?:icon_welder::dunno: any help is great yall!

How the hell did that happen? I'm guessing it broke down in the "guide" hole in the floor plate piece?

I'd just get another shifter from a junkyard... there is a plastic thing that looks like a naughty toy inside the tube. Probably wouldn't be able to get it back in if the tube got distorted when welding it.

no its the actual gear selector on the trans, metal piece that the shift linkage goes into. lol naughty plastic thing....

I've got a floor shifter from an 88 if you need it.

Ohhh... interesting. Hmm. I don't have an A4LD to examine at the moment but I believe that part goes fairly far into the transmission, and you have to pull the valve body to get it out. At least that's the way it is on C4s and C6s. I would recommend removing it and finding another one. Replace the seal while you're at it. Welding it back on would probably melt the seal.

Have you taken apart a first gen shifter? Inside the tube there is that plastic thing... it looks like ass beads but I didn't want to straight up say it that early in the thread...haha

haha, wow. if i needed a floor shifter i think i would go with a b&m but thanks for offering up your parts. i might even get one for shits and giggles... well it sucks that i gotta do that shit for a damn shift selector. guess i gotta get a shift shaft seal.
