Hey all.

I have a 1993 Extended Cab 4.0L Ford Ranger. A little bit ago it was ran out of gas. Since then I did not hear the fuel pump kicking on so i decided to check the Inertia Switch. I reset it and didnt get any luck.

Today I finally had a chance to pull my Fuel Filter and Tank. The filter looked pretty Good. I got the tank out and pulled the pump out. I tried to test the pump with a direct wire and it doesnt kick on.. (what wires power it).

So i decided to test the Socket where the pump plugs into to be positivie there was power there.

There are four wires. a Black, Pink-red, Yellow and another Black.

At the pink-red wire i am getting 2.0 volts at turn on. On the Yellow i am getting 8.0 Volts. Now i read somewhere it was supposed to get 12 for a couple seconds and it goes back to 8.. Is this true?

What else could this be? I really need to get this truck running ASAP and all help is more then appreciated! Thanks all!

black/pink pump pwr. ( pink/red) is likly pink/black

black, ground

others are the guage

pump run for 2 sec on ign. only. needs running signal from eng. to stay on

Have some one crank eng .while you hit tank. hard and fast 3-5 times.repeat. 2-3 times

It jars motor brushes that have issues with commutor.

Its a diagnostic. trick.if it starts. replace pump.

remember 1 in 3 males are colour blind, I am. still figure out wiring,
