hey guys, was woundering if u could help me out.. i have a 92 ranger reg cab short box that is half way down on doing a 302 swap. anyone have any info how to wire it all up lol its carbed.. any kinda help would be nice.
 
CHeck the tech library. There is a good article there, but if you truck had a 2.9 it will actually be easier to wire up if you go EFI.
 
What kind of ignition system are you using and are you gonna adapt it to use the stock alternator.
 
There's a lot of different variations - what are you running? Duraspark? HEI? Auto? Manual? Fuel pump? Helm Inc Electrical Vacuum Trouble Shooting Manuals have the answer to any wiring question you might have. Buy one.
 
it had a 2.3 in it. just want to wire the duraspark in. carbed 302 holley blue pump and a aod out of a 85 mustang
 
Are you using a resistor in the system for the coil . Key on hot goes to the red on the module, start circuit goes to the white wire on the module. I recommend a coil that runs on battery voltage such as the TFI coil for a mid 80s 302 then you dont need a resistor and a diode and you can use the stock motorcraft for the same year as the coil. Just wire the pos on the coil to the red wire for the module. Just two wires off the truck for the ignition. Then find the sensor wires for the old engine see if you can just swap the sensors and wire them accordingly and you might be able to just swap the alternator also as long as the pully size is the same and the mounts will work. If you use the alternator off the mustang you will probably have to add a external voltage regulator.
 
In the tech library under 2.8 duraspark conversion is a section on wiring your O/D you have three options the dash switch is the easiest it is a good idea to hook a light up to show you when it is enguaged.
