stop leak can work depending on the severity of the leak, definitely not something to continuously put in there cause it stops leaks by being a lot thicker than normal, and thus can burn out motors and pumps and the like

I had a leak in the same spot on my 93 4.0. I tryed two cans and it didnt do jack. But I'd still try it if I were you because it was a PITA to fix. The seal thing-a-ma-jig would NOT come out. Had to torch it.
