tranny clicking

so ya im driving down the highway and i can hear like a clicking kinda gear on gear noise but im not sure if i hold my hand on the shifter or twist the shifter hard it gose away for a bit my tranny is a fm 146 in a 88 ford ranger supercab 4x4

anyone that knows anything it would help lots thanx
 
Yea I would also like to know as mine does the same thing but only in 2 and 4.
 
so ya i was in my shop class and was on "mitchells on demand parts thing" and there is aperantly some kind of recall on the shifter and there is a replacment part so ya its a general problem according to ford mo.co.
