I am looking to buy a suspension lift for a 91 ext cab. I need to clear 33x12.5 tires. I do not want a body lift. I would like something with extended radius arms. Will a 4 inch work and have clearance(tuff country)?? What lifts will work and not suck. This is for some trail riding.:icon_bounceblue:

Does James Duff make a 5-6" lift?
 
yea JD makes a 5.5" lift im pretty sure. It comes with ext. rad arms. That would clear 33s just fine.
 
ya james duff just started makeing the 5-6" lift it comes with all the good stuff like radias arms lift springs for the rear every thing you need it runs $1,895 and its worth it. i have and a couple of older rangers and one of them had a 4 inch and 31" tires is the bigest tire you can go with out rubbing real bad.all the others had 6 inch lifts no body and i run 33x12.50-15 and its perfect. go with the 6 inch,dont buy the tuff cuntry its cheep james duff or sky jacker is the way to go...
 
Yeah Im definately going with the duff. The dual front shock mount is sick.
 
You will deffinetly want a 6" lift to clear 33's. Duff, Skyjacker, or Superlift make good stuff.
 
ya but the super lift radius arms suck they brake just like the rancho ones,the lifts good but not the radius arms.
 
yeah I have heard that the superlift is garbage. I wanna get their steering linkage though. With a 6" lift what other mods will I need to do (brake lines, driveshaft, etc.)???
Are steering stabilizers worth the dough?
 
You'll want to drop the centerlink on the steering down about 2" for your 6" lift. Contrary to what Superlift states, that kit is only good for lifts between 2.5-4".
Steering stabilizers are not needed if everything else is in good order.


If you have a Supercab, you'll probably want to get the 1-piece rear driveshaft from a later Ranger to replace your two-piece one ('98-'00 steel shaft is best).

You will need new brake hoses, yes (why nobody just includes those in the kit I can't figure out... anything over 2-3" lift and you can play tunes on the stock ones when the suspension droops out)

Yeah I figured I would have to change the brake lines. Thanks for all the help. Will the driveshaft have to be modified or will it bolt right up?

How then do you drop the centerlink? :huh:sorry if its a stupid question, Im a bit of a novice but would like to do the labor myself if possible. Saves money and there is a certain pride factor in building the rig myself.
 
I had to do it on a friend's truck with a SJ 6" lift.

Easiest way is to cut the tierod block off the centerlink tube, and add a 2" x ¾" piece of steel in there to space it down.
You'll want to also beef up the idler arm and it's bracket some though, as the longer centerlink will put a bit more leverage on it.

on my 88 ranger i just have a pitmen arm ,i do need extended radius arms thouhg to help with the camber.
