Here is the situation:
I have a wrecked 95 ford ranger 4.0 V6. The truck still starts right up and ran very strong when it was wrecked. The truck is not drivable as i rolled it over and the cab and bed is extremely crushed.

I can get my hands on a 97 explorer with a 4.0 V6 in it in great shape. The motor ran hot though and needs to be replaced. they want 500 for the truck.

I am currently driving a 92 crown victoria with no ac. I'm trying to save up but it's taking me a long time. For 500 bucks I can have a decent vehicle in this explorer.

How hard would this be to do? I am no mechanic but I am not stupid either. I also have a friend who is a Heavy Mechanic who works on Construction equipment and has a lift on his truck who is damn good at what he does. He is willing to help me.

How hard of a job would this me? Will the engines just swap right in? Does it matter if my truck is a manual and the explorer is a auto?

i do think that it is the same engine in both trucks should just drop in
