Gas tank fills to 1/2 only

I recently finished my 5.0 swap , haven't driven it much, but when filling with gas it will only fill half way. Gas tank has all new sending unit and fuel pump. In addition the truck has a 2" lift kit and its an 88.:icon_confused: Has anyone had this problem ?
 
yup I do too sometimes it will almost get to 3/4, I'm thinking something is stuck or bent when I put it back in...:sad:
 
maybe the unit is not seated correctly causing the float to bump the filler tube that extends into the tank........or the float is bumping the wall of the tank....my fuel gauge won't go above 3/4 because of those problems....


test the dash gauge to see if it's o.k. also...last resort--pull out the tank sending unit & work it by hand thru the full range to see if the dash gauge is acting correctly..
 
Can you only fill it halfway or does it only read half full?

Kind wonder about your EVAP system if it only fills halfway. It gets that full and since the tank is unable to relieve the air pressure from being filled it kicks off the filling pump.
 
When the pump kiks off gas sprays out the filler tube, will not take any more.

Fix the problem this morning, removed the filler neck / hose and cut about
4 1/2'' from the inter hose ,then reinstalled it . works like a charm now.:icon_thumby:
