I found a good 4L on craigslist out of a 2000 explorer for $325, just wondering if i get this can i use the manual transmission from the 2.9? Its an automatic and i want to stay with the stick.

Sorry for the triple post but also wondering how hard would it be to put the 00' explorer motor in the 88 ranger? I know its easy with the early 90's models but i dont know about the newer ones...
Is that SOHC or OHV? I'd stay away from anything OBD II (1995ish+) as it will only make things much more complicated. What I did is look for a 4.0 as close to my vehicle year as possible to make wiring easier. Good luck mang.
