I bought this truck last year. I run it stock since but now i'm really :bawling: of the 4 cylinder engine low power. So, my plan was for this year to put a 5.0L V8 engine with tran ant tcase from a full size Ford truck in it, fuel injection. Put a 3 inch body lift kit. Buy some 31 inch Swamper to it the trail. I think i'will have fun with my Ranger. Now i still in search for parts for the Swap. i will update this page soon with my new progress :)

The donor vehicule will probably be a 1988 F-150 4X4, 5.0 L engine EFI. C6 auto trans. and T-case is a BW1345 or a NP205 i'm not sure. Is the C6 is a good type of Transmission ? Anybody have drave a C6 for a couple year?

Yes, the C6 is a strong trans as is the transfer case. Especially when installing it in a short box regular cab Ranger ( lightweight ) . You may have a clearance issue trying to get the C6 between the trans tunnel but the body lift will help.
Good luck and post the results !!

If you are using a 88 donor vehicle then it shouldn't have a c6 as far as I know. Also the transfer case would be a borg warner 1356. If you go with that case case you will have to notch the frame to make it fit. Also, like bent bolt said, go with a body lift to help everything clear better. Don't go any higher than 3" body lift. Sorry I was a little harsh on ya I just wasn't getting what you said until I read it a few times! Good luck.

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2974000-2974999/2974971_19_full.jpg
and the oil pan still contact the crosmember
and the engine is still too high between the framerail the hood won't close
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2974000-2974999/2974971_18_full.jpg
Saturday night i come visit therangerstation to discover that the oil pan from my Bronco was not a real rear sump pan ....:( Next week i will find a mustang/ crown vic pan and put this on my 5.0L
Sunday i have install'd the BW1356 under the Ranger. I only have to reinforce and cut a little pece of the frame

Here some update for my 83 project :)
Last week-end i've received all the part needed to put the mustang oil pan on the 5.0. With this pan, the engine are 1 inch lower between the framerail, so i've just put 1/2 inch shims between the engine block and the support. I've also installed the t-case linkage too
This week end i've installed the oil filter relocator
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2974000-2974999/2974971_25_full.jpg
I've also installed the radiator(one from a Cherokee 4.0) and the transmission cooler(stock one from the Bronco)
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2974000-2974999/2974971_26_full.jpg
And made my exhaust. I've made a custom H-pipe, dual 2 1/4 exhaust front to rear and 2 little muffler(from a V8 camaro):icon_welder:

Ok. This weekend i've run trought some problems. Here the story. Thursday i've received my 2 driveshaft(:D yes the first ride soon). Saturday morning i was all excited to put the driveshaft under the truck and take a ride. I begin by installing the front one..........Unable to bolt it in place:mad:. The reason... The guy at the junkyard have put the wrong d-shaft on the Bronco when i bought it. I've checked it before ship them to the driveshaft shop. they come togother with no trouble. the only diference was the hole to bolt it(it's the only thing i havent chek before shipping :bawling:)Transfer case side 83mm between bolt, d/s side 73mm between bolt.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2974000-2974999/2974971_34_full.jpg
So i've try to install the rear one..................Unable to install it..........it's 2 inch too long....................:( I've asked for 48 inch long.........i've received it with 50 inch long. Not enought travel on the slip yoke......I will return it to the shop this week.
After this i've modified my battery tray, because in it's original position the battery touched the upper raditor hose.

The only things left to do before the first ride is install the driveshaft:(
