yup, the other day i was out on a run late so i drove the company pickup home from were i was, leaving my truck back at the shop overnight, like i do somewhat often. i got back to the shop yesterday evening around 6 to find it not there, the truck next to it had the dash ripped out and stereo missing and the one on the other side they got all the gas out of it.

im not holding my breathe on finding it, if they do itll probably be on fire upside down in a corn field somewhere

heres a picture for everybody in the Dawson Springs/Madisonville area. i work in St. Charles which is were it was taken from.
its kinda dirty and scratched up now though and it has a drop hitch on the back

KentuckyHeadhunter

no insurance, i only have liability on it, which i was unaware that i needed comprehensive to have theft coverage. i will definitelly get it on my next vehicle though.
my boss said he was going to turn it into the company insurance, but havent heard anything back yet, it was just yesterday though, so hopefully soon ill hear something.

i dont know what ill do for my next rig, ive still got the my ole subaboob legacy for now though. id Realy like something with a much nicer back seat than those little jump seats, but itll either be another ranger or a 1/2 ton chevy with a much bigger ext. cab. if i could find a good deal on a nice 4 door powerstroke id go for that to, but most are well out of my price range

Hey you gotta look at the bright side, maybe somebody stole it to make an awesome off road vehicle. When you get it back it might have a solid front axle sittin on 35's.
Or maybe not.

Well, what you can do is post lost papers around with the licence plate #, an image, a list of some unique features, VIN, + the year, and where it was stolen from/when.

You could get lucky =p

Keep on the company.... as nice as they seem there are dead lines in which they have to follow to report stolen items. If they know this and some one higher up drags their feet on purpose............ no truck.
Not saying your boss would but their is always some one higher who pays the premium.
Just call and say hey whats up ?
Couldn't hurt to keep a bug in their ear brother. Thats all you got now is their insurance.

I would second that, other than the plastic bed, which holds up very well, and the SUA setup they're identical to a ranger. I love mine. You can even find them with a manual transmission, like mine has.

I agree Keep on the companies insurance company. You should also secure yourself an attorney just in case (should have been first thing when dealing with company insurance).

They will drag it out deliberately just to avoid paying out the claim. This is actually fairly commonplace when you deal second hand wih an insurance carrier other than your own.

Plus, Do you have any confirmation that the companies insurance company was ever contacted???

KentuckyHeadhunter
10-29-2010, 07:03 PM
well i never did find anything out about the company insurance, but it dont matter now i suppose. we found it the other day.
a guy called me late one night and said it had been sitting in his woods for a couple of days, as far as he knew. went down the next day to get it, its down in a f--king hollow hidden in a briar patch

they took the battery, my cb, all the stuff in the bed, and busted my ignition so that it starts with a screwdriver now ...oh, and it dont run, and i think they might have burned the clutch. its sitting at work now, going to pull it home tomarrow.

we put a battery on it, it turns over fine with no wierd noises, but it doesnt never hit a lick. it puffs air back out the intake every couple of cranks, i dont think its getting fuel. but we will look closer at it tomarrow when it get it home

glad you got it back. too bad your not in a town like mine. everyone who has a truck knows mine. one of my buddies actually followed my dad one time cus he didnt know who was driving it and thought it got stolen lolol. best of luck with the repairs bro!. post some pics of the carnage.

I agree lets see some pics.....

KentuckyHeadhunter
11-06-2010, 04:52 PM
theres no real carnage to see, just a broken fender flare and some new scratches. but i dont know wtf is wrong with the motor

-its getting fuel
-getting spark
-turning over plenty fast
-hits a lick and sounds like its trying to start
-everything is hooked up and plugged in correctly and had been accounted for

-only hits every other turn, like their not all firing
-puffs air out the intake every couple of turns and one time it shot a fireball out the intake

now that i finaly have time to work on it, tonight im going to pull the front off and see what the timing chain looks like. im thinking they may have ran her out and jumped a tooth or something

escort_gts
11-06-2010, 06:35 PM
That's very possible. Hopefully that is all that is wrong

KentuckyHeadhunter
11-06-2010, 09:46 PM
so i was messin around with it, wanted to make sure all my spark plugs were firing good. i had 1 and 5 out and grounded to see them spark while my dad cranked it
....it started up and ran on 4 cylinders:icon_confused:

so now im thinking maybe the coilpack is bad, gonna go to the junkyard next week and pick one up before i venture into looking at that timing chain

Agreed. Were the cops involved? Dust the interior for prints? While you got it back you should still file a claim to repair any damage and replace anything missing.

KentuckyHeadhunter

we got it running today. that clutch was a pita, way to much crap had to happen just to move that tranny back about 10"s. The old clutch oddly didnt look that bad, but maybe they dont have to wear much before they dont grab anymore. the new autozone one i got looked quite a bit beefier though, with 5 springs instead of 4 and a wider contact pad, and just stronger looking in general.

it still has a miss at idle but its firing all cylinders with the "new" coil pack. clutch needs to be bleed bad, but it works and grabs very nice. the screwdriver ignition is gonna have to get fixed pretty soon though

backroad101: the cops didnt find it, the property owner did. but they dusted it the night it was found and said there was to much dew in it to get good prints. insurance told me homeowners would have to pay for the missing items, but they didnt amount to enough for me to bother. in the sheriffs words "it could be any one of a thousand suspects."

Man, I went through this whole thread, and I am sorry that you had to go through this, but glad you got it back. Stupid people who steal from others who worked hard to earn their stuff.

If someone stole my V8 ranger, I would be devastated. If I found my truck in a ragged condition, I would be furious. If I ever found the guy(s) who did this to my baby, there would be no jail time, no sir.

They would(under supervision of local cops) work in an autobody shop, resanding, rebuffing, reworking, and replacing every last imperfection until it was complete. On their own dollar, on the judge's time ruling.

That would be epic!

Looks like you got lucky 'cause the truck broke on them. Gotta love Ford reliability, it never lets you down. I had a Tempo stolen once (when they were worth stealing), I only left like 3kms worth of gas in the car and they stalled it and walked away. :icon_rofl: True story.

Look at it this way, you could be on that car show where they take your ride, you think its stolen, and the whole time a friend or family member knows where it is but not telling you...later on you get it back...LOL. Very unlikely since it has been over a yr since you posted about it but just a thought for next time if it every happens again.
