quick disconnect for offroad lights

I want to wire up a quick-disconnect connector when I wire up 4 offroad lights on my roll bar. I plan to run 10gauge wiring for each pair.

I can't find much of anything in way of the weatherproof connectors. Some have mentioned a flat-4 trailor hookup, but the wiring for those is much smaller than 10awg....defeating the purpose of using a heavy gauge wire.

Anyone have any links to a good weatherproof quick-disconnect system that will support 10awg wire?
 
go to an actuall electric shop, should have what you need. maybe even lowes?

This would really help if the truck bed ever had to be removed.... would not have to cut and re-splice the wiring.

I thought everyone did this when putting lights on their roll-bars?
 
actually u should look at the wires that have those fuses built into them. they r like a quick connect and they r waterproof for the most part and u would blow the fuse before u would a light which could save a bunch of money. just a thought.
 
Go with the Deutsch connectors. They're fully weatherproof, and the ones on the link provided will accept 12 gauge wires. 12 gauge should be more than enough for each pair of lights as well unless you're running something like 300 watt lights.

I've got these going on both front and rear lockers, some emergency lights, in-cab winch controller, and probably as many other places as I can find to use them...

5$ for just one plug??

I would run to a junkyard armed with a razor blade and some wire cutters...(I almost said Dikes, but that might turn out badly..) and cut some plugs off some poor unsuspecting wirring harness, which they will proabbly just give to you for free. I like Mitsu's plugs from the early 90's, very user friendly and weather proof. :icon_thumby:
 
i just dont see what the harm is if u just wired the straight up. so what if u would have to cut them when u remove ur bed. its not like ur gonna remove ur bed as often as open ur door. ever hear of wire nuts and electrical tape?
 
I used a round 6 pin(I believe) trailer connector.

Dude, :nono: Put the wire down!! Wire nuts are used for AC voltage (household current, not automotive!) You never use wire nuts and electrical tape for automotive use...

What about waterproof blade terminals, I can get them at Canadian Tire in 10 packs in almost any size. Whatever your equivalent store is should have them with the automotive wiring stuff.

ive never had a problem with my electrical work on anything. its a ranger, not a ferrari. not that big of a deal if there is wire nuts or electrical tape.
