i need help with wiring my 89 ranger which im currently in the middle off swapping an 84 carb 5.0 im using an msd 6200 ignition module. i need to know where i hook the the small red wire up to the ranger so i can start it up thanks:icon_confused:

im new to this i have some knowledge of the wiring but not a ton i kinda need alittle help on specifics. i know im asking alot thanks:sad:

im just looking for the wiring to get the thing running i no longer have the original truck computer in there i just need everything in the wiring wat needs to be hooked up wat doesnt. colors connectors ect..

Use a multimeter and go through the mess of wires that is no longer being used and find one that has 12+ volts with the key turned on and 0 volt with key off. As stated above make sure it keeps 12+ volts when the key is turned to start. Dont use a test light they only show that you have power not the amount of voltage.

put it to the plus on the coil

Putting it on the coil doesnt work on msd. The + side of the coil is the trigger side so the voltage is not constant.

Look for a red wire with a light green stripe that went to the original coil my wiring diagram shows it hot with the key in rum/start. Dont know if it will be with the computer gone.
