if you've ever had to replace your 2.9's ignition module... what kind of abnormal engine symptoms were you experiencing with your ranger...

what functions does the 2.9's ignition module, exactly, control... does the ignition module control the engine's timing advance, the fuel injector's spray bandwith, and the spark plug's ignition firing...

how did you determine your 2.9's ignition module needed to be replaced... did your ranger's engine run fine, sometimes, and erratic at other times... before, discovering your ignition module was the problem...

The TFI module runs the coil and it reads the hall effect sensor. It does not CONTROL anything really. The EEC does that. The TFI mod has a bearing on timing, but so do the MAP sensor, the ACT sensor, the TPS, the ECT sensor, and the knock sensor, as well as engine RPM. The TFI is more a gateway between the EEC and the hall effect sensor and the EEC and the coil. Symptoms of a bad or failing TFI? Rough running, stalling when hot, not running at all, erratic ignition timing.
