http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll71/chrisiscool666/myranger011.jpg

About a week and a half ago me and my buddy kyle took a adventure out to hillsville pa. A old abandon quarry with TONS of trails around it and a big ass quarry to fish and swim in. Here are some pics from there.

Who said 2wd cant go in mud?

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll71/chrisiscool666/myranger020.jpg

Ignore my dumb friend fishing.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll71/chrisiscool666/myranger003-1.jpg

Well i didnt get it done. Just got a job again and hopefully getting another so ill be working 2 jobs and going to high school so it will be a fun senior year.

Im doing the chevy 63in leaf swap. Getting money together for leaves. So it will ride jacked up in the back for a while till i get money for a rough country kit.

Still need to do work on it.

Can anyone photoshop the pic of it thats a clean blue one and make it army green? Its paint is not as clean as it seems and it needs cab corners and a rust spot on hood fixed.

63 in swap?

Cerwin-Vega 5x7's for the front.
Pioneer 6x8's for the rear.
Cherry Bomb Glasspack.
2-1/4 Turndown.
Sony 10' shallow mount in a box.
14g speaker wire and parts to rewire.

Headliner and visors.
New leaf spring hangers for front right and left.

need a few things in that list....

so...150 coils and e350 arms with relocated radius arm brackets to go with the 63 swap and 32's would be a good step...with maybe a drop pitman arm or some stonecrusher steering

09-28-2010, 09:28 PM
Well im waitng to get paid to buy stuff. Just going with explorer leaf springs for now. Im tempted to put my 32's on the front once its done to see if they will rub awfull.

Trucks also been getting a little bit of paint:P

Flat army green, coming out smooth as hell.

Does anyone know if 2inch rustys xj lift coils will fit with no mods?

93 Ohio Ranger
10-07-2010, 09:32 PM
Please let me know if they do or if skyjacker or someone makes a set of 2 inch coils i wanna buy some asap!

red_ranger93
10-08-2010, 09:31 AM
buy skyjacker leveling coils for a extended cab with a 4.0l or you can do a washer lift its in the tech library youll get enough lift out of them for what you want they might be a little stiff though i had em in my 2wd and they worked great 31's were no prob and i still had enough room for bigger tires

magnetnerd
10-08-2010, 09:39 AM
I think the general consensus here is that you can definitely stuff 31's with leveling coils, and I'd think if you go with slightly larger "leveling" coils like red ranger suggested, you can probably get away with 32's.

93 Ohio Ranger
10-08-2010, 03:34 PM
Yeah im looking at this build right now and if you look at the pic of it on the ground thats with 31's. Plenty of room for 32's. Especially since im trimming my fenders some too.

http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56554&page=9

Anyone know were to get some for decently cheap?

Also today i got my explorer leaves. Have to flip the bolts in them. Clean and paint them and other shit on the frame. Install them and the new hangers. Jack front up and take wheels off since a guys buying them.

93 Ohio Ranger
10-11-2010, 09:26 PM
Guys picking the wheels up tomorrow. So im buying more paint to finish it. Paint for the underneath and bolts. Should have the rear finished by wednesday night. How the hell do i get the damn centering bolts out to flip them?

93 Ohio Ranger
10-12-2010, 11:21 PM
Sold the wheels so the whole trucks on jack stands now.

Got some more paint down on cab, painted a lot of the frame. Going to the spring shop tomorrow to get new center bolts. Than sears and start bolting everything up. Also bedlined the bottom of my rockers.

Just so you know I have a 2in leveling kit and I had to cut about 2in outta my fenders, although that is on a 15x10 with only 3in of backspacing, just make sure you get em on a 8in wide wheel and like 4in of backspacing

Mine are 15x10 cragar soft 8's. Not sure of the backspacing.

And if you look at that thread i posted that dudes running 2inch skyjacker coils and 31's and has plenty of clearence from looks of it.

Got shackles bolted up. Front hangers bolted up. And the leaf centering bolts out.

Anyone think i should combine the ranger and explorer packs to make a flexy pack around 2.5 lift?

Holly shit i actually got some pics ahaha. Shitty but do the job. Excuse the garage. Brothers trashed it and i need to clean and reorganize it.

Heres the bedlinerd rocker and the green on the cab.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll71/chrisiscool666/truck004.jpg

New bracket and bolts! Stupid brackets take for ever to come off and 2 mins to put on.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll71/chrisiscool666/truck005.jpg

New leaf with centering pin changed and flipped to work with the ranger soa. They will be cleaned and painted before being put on.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll71/chrisiscool666/truck002.jpg

My $70 wheels and tires. The tires arent completely bald but do have tread and will work for now.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll71/chrisiscool666/truck003.jpg

Some of the rear is painted. Need more paint to finish the rest.

There were blocks holding read end up,had to use them real quick but there back under.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll71/chrisiscool666/truck001.jpg

Truck overall, messy garage, not done and im getting annoyed. Hard to fix a truck with no job.

Fenders are getting trimmed. Biggest it will be lifted is 4inch. And run 35's. I hate stupid high trucks. Im working on a budget so its staying cheap till i get a job. Id love to sas it and swap to 4wd but i have no idea what id need.

Axle. Transfer case. Tranny. Driveshafts. Manual tcase linkage. And not sure what else.

93 Ohio Ranger
10-19-2010, 08:50 PM
Also once i get the metal im taking it into shop and welding up a set of sliders. A rear bumper and front bumper.

93 Ohio Ranger
10-21-2010, 06:24 PM
Well after i finish this application for loves truck stop im going to go work on the truck.

Going to bolt the leafs up and than im at a stand still till i get money for the front coils....

93 Ohio Ranger
10-21-2010, 08:33 PM
Got the left leaf mounted up. But i need to take my u bolt plates to school and take the drill press and drill them since the centering pin i used has a bigger nut and is too big for the hole. Than the whole rear suspension will be done tomorrow.

Well i decided to bed line the lower part of the doors too like most people do. I seen my buddys 95 with it done and i liked it so i did it. Didnt get pics cause its cold as hell out there.

Tomorrows plans.

Bedline the other side.
Redrill a hole in my firewall and run my temp gauge.

10-24-2010, 12:26 AM

Just Take off a link and see how it handles on the street, if it dosnt have too much body roll just completely remove the sway bar, if it dosnt handle very well the make some quick disconnects

Well i had to help my buddy with his 69 panel with a 350 3 on the tree today. he got it for 550 bucks. Runs a+ but has no brakes.

Tomorrow im planning on getting some work done on it.

Also may have a nice little suprise getting rebuilt this winter for it and getting put in in spring/summer.

Alright i know im such a noob but ive never done either of the following.
How should i go about swapping a dana 30 out of a xj in the front?

I know i need a tranny, tcase, driveahafts, clutch, and flywheel and a 8.8 for rear. I will regear and install lockers in them.

I wanna do like the whole front axle first and then the rest since money will be tight and atleast some will be done.

Also how hard will it be to swap a 302 thats carbed in but it has to be 5 speed and work with i think its the bw1350m tcase?

Thanks to who ever can help. Also i want around 3-4inches of lift not too high but some nice flex.

Pics and lots of info will gladly be appreciated.

Also can anyone help me with a parts list for a d30 swap? What type of locker should i run? And for now im running 32's but will step up to 35's eventually. I want around 4 inches of lift and a nice flexy set up.

93 Ohio Ranger
10-31-2010, 08:10 PM
Okay can anyone help me on gathering a parts list for a sas with a dana 30?

Heres what im thinking for the dana 30. Im building it my self so its going to be a learning experience.

Im not sure on gearing. Im going to run either 33's or 35's but my 32's will be on till i get a pair.

https://www.4wdfactory.com/store/products.php?product=Lock%252dRight-Locker-Dana-30

Locker,i need something like the lunchbox type as its going to be a dd too and i cant wear tires out.

Now i wanting to do the same type set up dangerranger did with his recent d30 swap with the jeep arms. Will these work with what im doing?

http://www.ironman4x4fab.com/Jeep_XJ_Long_Arms/XJ_LAK.html

Now what else would i need? I know transmission and stuff but that will wait. I just want to get a list of what i need and start gathering parts for the SAS!

93 Ohio Ranger

Ideas? Id like to know so i can start looking for deals and saving up.

93 Ohio Ranger
11-03-2010, 03:57 PM
Okay another question. The whole build is all about doing it cheaply but still being a capable rig for trails and daily driving.

Would a d44 be better? I read that the d30 can not be unlocked at the hubs without a $1500 kit??

http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/pts/2034801869.html

I found this and my buddy has the shaft i can grab off of him for cheap. Now what type of locker would i need?

Also looks like it was a leaf set up, what would i need for a coil spring set up?

Im trying to gather ideas and info so it wont take long to swap once i get all the parts.

well for starts if you want a cheap truck ditch the 4x4 conversion thoughts once you start you cant stop and for all your dana 30 questions private message rangertoy he has done one on his and he is running 38.5s on his not sure you will get enough out of the 4" to run 35s i have a 4" rough country and 33s are tight add a body lift and you should be good and as far as staying low to the ground forget the body lift and trim the hell out of the fenders also something else to talk to rangertoy about. and extended radius arms will help the flex keep up the good work and keep us posted

Im no longer doing a dana 30. Just not worth it i wanna go full width 44. And the waggy is just like any normal 44 correct?

well for starts if you want a cheap truck ditch the 4x4 conversion thoughts once you start you cant stop and for all your dana 30 questions private message rangertoy he has done one on his and he is running 38.5s on his not sure you will get enough out of the 4" to run 35s i have a 4" rough country and 33s are tight add a body lift and you should be good and as far as staying low to the ground forget the body lift and trim the hell out of the fenders also something else to talk to rangertoy about. and extended radius arms will help the flex keep up the good work and keep us posted

Im not doing a dana 30 anymore. And i know they can handle 35's fine my buddys jeep does it just fine. Im thinking a 5-6 inch suspension lift now. And i refuse to run body lifts there out of the question.

Fenders will get a nice trim.

Any help with that axle i posted on how id go about doing a swap for my truck? On what id need and some good places to get them.

khoward
11-03-2010, 10:19 PM
yea rangertoy can help on the info for the axle swap and i think the 44 is a better choice dont know anything on the waggy 44 but as long as its a driver side drop with the right tools and know how it would be a simple job and yea the 30 is a decent axle pre 92 were shit but they have made a few changes since then and hold up well if taken care of

93 Ohio Ranger
11-04-2010, 09:43 PM
Im still undecided on what to do axle wise. I need ideas on the mounting and which would be a better choice. I wont skimp on axles, ill lock them but im not looking to spend a million bucks.

Heres some seats im looking at having mom get me with my tattoo for christmas.

Adapters are pricey but i got no clue about making my own.

The seats.

I will only have one of the baja's for a while till i get money for the other.

Cant wait till christmas with my money ill buy the mounting brackets, sliders ect. And maybe she can get me a seat and a 3 point and ill be happy :D

Been working and lifting to get into shape, i went to summit the other day and bought my self a chirstmas present.

2inch Skyjacker leveling coils.

They are going in next week and truck will be back in commision.

With christmas money i will be buying a 31spline 8.8 and rebuilding it and locking it. Will probably go in around the end of january.

Well ive had it. Taking my coils back. The whole front end is coming out. Whats a good price to sell it for? Has newer pads and rotors on it.

I found a guy with a dana 44 out of a 79 f150 with 373s for 80 bucks. Going to go leaf sprung front end. I want around 6 inches of lift. Whats a good leaf set up and bracket set up?

Holy crap, its been a while.

Heres whats been done. I got most done cause i gave up on it for a while.

Whole rear ends done, tanks in,and the wheels are on.

32s do not rub and work fine. Taking it to school to heat bolts and put coils on.

Update pics coming tomorrow.

Went on a wheeling adventure to hillsville pa were i broke the truck. She did good considering i only got stuck twice and it was terrible back there. Went with my buddy that has a toyota with 31s,5spd,4wd and a locker in the rear. He crawled through it all, and a girl thats a good friend that has a 4wd stock ranger. We all had a blast and didnt break anything.

Still dont have my coils in, trucks going into lab tomorrow to start.

On the list of to do. Rear end, a 8.8 with a locker and 4.56 gears, as my 7.5 with 3.55 gears and 32s blows. A 3 inch body lift. Trim my fenders. Snorkle. And 35s to tie me over till i swap it to 4wd with a 44 front and all that good shit.

Well im going to give you guys a nice little picture grouping tomorrow. I am going to install my coils this week since i had to fix my moms van and other junk.

Im going to cut the fenders, coils, snorkle, and possibly weld the rear end and im set. Hopefully im getting the job at home depot and im going to start buying parts for my sas. I want the front fully solid axle swapped before i graduate in june.

So far this is my parts list.

78-79 f150 dana 44 with radius arms.
4.88 gears.
Undecided on coils, want some thing flexy, good street manners and 6-7inches of lift on a ranger.
Stock radius arms for now, james duff ones down the road.
James duff bolt on coil/shock towers for sas swap.

Anyone want to chime in on a trackbar ect? Also i think im going to leave it open for a while and lock it down the road.

tracbar, use the mount from the f150 you get your front axle from. the actual bar, just use some dom tubing cut to length with a heim joint on each end.

Wow im constantly on here but always forget to update my damn thread!

Got my coils on,took it to yankee lake on the april fools teaser, creek plus water box= a truck that didnt want to drive, got it out and cleaned and she fired right up, other than that it didnt get stuck and had a blast, found some problems that need fixed.

Left front cab mount.
Fenders need trimmed, the right hand side is already done now.
Snorkle im doing a cowl one in the center black piece on the firewall.

I can tell my syncros are acting up so im going to save and get a 4wd 3.0 m5od and a transfer case, and crossmember and rear driveshaft.

Swapping in a 4wd tranny and tcase is just the same as 2wd but need the 4wd crossmember? Will be using new clutch and slave cylinder.

Well scratch all my past plans its changing. Im driving it till june 9th and getting a mid 90s f150 for a daily drive and ranger is getting torn down and im doing my dream build since i got my job lined up.

Dana 60s front and back, not sure on gearing yet or lockers.
Leafs front and back not sure how im setting up steering or if im in boarding rears or anything.
Cage inside, undecided on a exo cage still.
Tires some were in the 37-39inch flavor.
Transfercase doubler.

Last but not least a cummins 4bt mated to a zf5spd.

What can i sell my motor and tranny for? 3.0 v6 with 151,xxx runs perfect, tranny is a 2wd m5od and its either the syncros acting up or slave cylinder havent looked yet.

And the whole front end with new skyjacker leveling coils.

I still need to upload pictures too.

Big Plans

Do yourself a favor and buy a 92-97 F350 singlecab 4x with a 351 and swap all the parts into your Ranger. This will give you a ZF 5speed, Dana 60 with ball joints and a Sterling 10.25 rear. It'll also give you a BW1356 transfer case, which IMHO is a better transfer case that most NP cases, and the 205 only beats it because the 1356 is chain driven, but it's a HUGE chain. IT also beats the 205 in gear ratio. 2.71 vs 2sumpin

That 4BT is extremely heavy, so you have to worry about the extra weight. Also, It's pretty tall, dont know if it will clear your hood.

Oh, and you've got a 93, so you you have the same steering box as the Full size Bronco's and F series trucks. (According to parts interchange) So you can run the steering off the F350 as well.

The 4bt is around 700 pounds. It doesnt clear hood if my memory serves right but i planned on having my auto body friend make it a 2 inch cowl or something like that. Im thinking a 1356/1354 doubler. I really dont want to run a sterling rear as ive read about pinion problems.

The steering box is the same? I never knew this, so i could just swap my box out for a f350 box. Now i will brace/plate the mount.

And yeah benny, big plans. But i have a job right out of high school 60hrs ish a week, 15 an hour. Gather a nice part pile and tools.

Look into 1356/1356 doubler, gives you better low range from what I understand.

You dont need to swap it at all, unless you dont have power steering.

And the pinion problem on the sterlings was with the old 10.25's (91 and older) and that problem is that the threads on the pinion can strip if you dont watch the yoke nut. They are actually quite a bit stronger than the D60 rear.

I've been doing alot of research on 1ton Fords in prep for my full size Bronco swap. :icon_welder:

Bumpers still in progress, but i can assure the one touch i did no one else has and its cool!

I also graduated high school today.

Im buying a 8.8 out of a explorer here soon as im not dumping money into my 7.5. I want it for discs and strength. I will have 35s for it in a month or two and want to get something with gearing suiteable for them. 4.10s for daily and wheeling? Or should i go 4.56 and have to regear a axle.

And the stock 7.5 driveshaft does hook up to the 8.8 correct?

^ So much for that, i really need to update.

I commited to a full rebuild. I picked up a good shape 93 explorer 4x4 from cali with 123,xxx for 600 of some ghetto trash lady for a daily and some weekend wheeling.

Ranger has nothing on rear end, scraped rear end, bed and came to find out my left leaf eye let was broken.

Sold my 2 inch skyjackers, and rims and tires.

Pulled whole under hood engine harness, whole front clip minus core support is off. It will be off with in next week.

Also got the whole front end out. Next comes motor and tranny.

Ill have pics later tonight cause my mom has the camera right now and ill have more progress done when she gets home.

Well ive been so busy and havent done much to truck. Worked as a truck washer at blue beacon for a while, just got hired yesterday as a tecnician at Monroe Muffler and Brake. Worked 13 hours today and 10 tomorrow. Great pay. Selling engine to a friends mom for 100.

Getting some very fun parts on thursday, it consists of big round and also ton age. For under 200 dollars.

Pictures thursdsay and progress since im off.

Going to see if i can find my damn memory card, if not ill use my laptops webcam to snap a picture.

I cant get the rear end till this thursday cause of bills.

But its a 79 f250 dana 60 with 4.10s, needs a pinion bearing but he wants 8- bucks for it which is a great price.

I got some tires for mock up and temporary till 40s come into play.

There 37x14x15 super swamper iroks. One has like 30 percent tread rest have 50 percent, and got some cupping, but for 100 with a grant wooden steering wheel and a cobra 19 cb radio im not complaining.
