When I bought my used 1998 B3000 4x4 single cab, I found in the truck contact info for the original owner. I called him, and he told me that my truck came with the 3" body lift that is on it, when it was new. So, it was either done by the dealer or at the factory. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it true that the truck originally came like this, with a 3" body lift?

Dealer. If it was factory, it wouldn't be a lift. It would just be how the truck was made.

Thanks, Jason. Makes sense. But I find it strange the dealer would go to this trouple. Incentive to buy and they just passed on the cost, I guess. Do you know if this is a common dealer practice?

Bigger dealers do stuff like that for a promotional thing, like a truck to sit out front and attract attention.

Kinda wierd they would do a BL on a brand new truck though, that could open a can of worms for warrentee stuff.

The group I used to work for did 4-5 customs a year. They would do a BL instead of suspension because suspension lifts replaced too many warranty parts.

You can tell if it is a body or suspension lift just by looking at the truck. Got any pics?

Body lifts are easy to spot. You'll see much more frame than normal.

Definitely a body lift.

It is definitely a body lift. 100%. I just found it strange that it came from the dealer brand new like this. Not that I mind. I have it seven years and it has been a marvelous truck. 148,xxx miles and it has never burned or leaked a drop of oil. I am also shocked by how long the clutch has lasted. I bought it with 72,000mi, on what I think was the original clutch, and I have never had it adjusted or changed, and I have no problems with it.:yahoo:
