OK, I admit it I am confused. My confusion lies with the person that worked on this transmission. !986 Ranger, 2.9L engine, 5 speed manual transmission. The transmission has E69A ED on the data plate. I believe this is a Toyo Kogyo type transmission. Over in Tech_library/Fluids.html it says that the fluid for 83 - 87 should be SAE 80W. The guy that worked on this transmission said the fluid should be Mercon . What lubricant should be used on this transmission?
