Ok, my A4LD is going out on my ranger and my original plan was to swap in a 5 speed anyway. My truck is a 1994 4.0 2wd auto. My mechanic buddy has every thing I need to swap to a five speed. The problem is this. My buddy says the trans came out of a late model OHV 4.0 explorer. He has told me that the VSS was on the rear axle of the explorer and not on the trans. How will this effect my swap? If there a place to put my VSS into the 5 speed transmission? My buddy has done the swap before but it was with the same years. I have not been able to see the transmission yet and the idea was to drop the truck off to him and pick up completed later this weekend. I have searched through the forums and the A4LD to 5 speed swap article and I am having trouble finding anything. Please give me some good news.
