A4LD Quit working after 3 miles

Hello,

Any thought on what causes this 2wd tranny to quit working after 2-3 miles of driving? It is a 1991 and only has 79,000 no abuse miles. It works fine until all gears forward and reverse quit working.

it sounds like its quitting when it heats up. i dont know what that actually means but it would seem like that would be the cause of whatever problem it is.

new tranny time

I have a 91 and I got about 125000 out of my a4ld never slipped never had a single clue of any problems till it just let go. I had it rebuilt ( bad idea) it lasted about 6 months. I replaced it with a later model out of a 95 I think. It seems to be holding up well. If I had it to do over I would go with the raptor transmission I had to have a automatic and the a4ld works really good until it breaks. :dntknw:
