I twisted off the lower front shock nut of a B4000 4x4 and now have a stub of the mount bolt left with no room to spin on a nut. The stud is one piece with the radius arm and they want $150 here in BC for each radius arm and the chances of the other arm doing the same are probably high. Can I drill out all the remaining stud and just use a high grade lock nut and bolt to replace it?

Figured it out on my own, just used a cut off wheel on an angle grinder to cut of stud and then ground flat down to the 1/4 inch thick washer(?), drilled a pilot hole in centre of washer then followed up with a 7/16 drill(go slow as you near the other side), then used a 4 inch grade 8 bolt and lock washer with another 1/4 thick washer and extra washers like the ones used on top shock mount on both ends. Also used the split steel sleeve inserted in shock.

Another way to fix shock stud, this is on a d-28 that originally doesn't have a stud but if yours breaks you could buy the stud from any parts place that stocks the 'HELP' line of parts. This was on my race truck so two studs;
I grabbed the rad arms from my '87 and drilled two holes 2 3/4" apart, the front one 1" from the existing hole;

I bought and installed these shock mounts;

IIRC they were C$12.00 ea.

When I broke mine off I ground it flat and drilled and tapped the remaining stud that was left there to fit a 3/8 bolt. I then found a washer that was the same outside diameter of the nut + washer that originally held the shock on and welded that to a 3/8 washer and bolted it all together with grade 8 hardware. It probably isn't the best solution but it has worked fine.
