hi, im living in kelowna b.c and it snows alot here and i have to get to work early every morning, i have a 97 mazda b4000, and i have to engage the 4wd just to get out of the driveway! yah ridiculous. but even going up some hills or going down the street i need the 4wd. but heres the problem: every time i turn the knob on the dash, (auto hubs, transfercase) standard tranny tho, and go forward it makes a sort of clunk every foot the truck will drive, usually 4 clunks, it sounds like something isnt running right because my truck whines when driving in the 4wd. open to any suggestions ill be spending my weekend looking at this. 4low and 4high.

well in the owners manuel it will tell you that this clunk is normal as everything is locking up. does it happen when you shift in neutral stopped or in gear and moving? because if I shift mine in while moving it will clunk for a second or two.

mine does this same clunking only it feels like i have no power to my front wheels as when i have it in 4wd. In both 4hi and 4lo it will clunk terrible i can feel it under my feet and hear it and it sounds like it is comming from right under me. It sounds like a machine gun is going off under my feet. and if u watch underneath u can see the transfer case hop up and down
