Before I start...1997 ranger 2.3l with 175k. Ok while working on my slave cylinder I decided to show off my new k&n intake to my buddy. I pulled it off the tube apart and a bit of oil spilled out of it. I just changed the pcv about 2 weeks before I got the new intake too. I have no idea what would be causing it. Well I'm not to smart about anything engine. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps your filter was overoiled and it collected in your intake.

This could be normal (to an extent because many people see the same thing) or it could be the result of excessive blow-by...

The PCV connects to a cannister under the intake and this may be plugged causing the oil to blow out the top into the intake section...remove the cannister and clean it out with either gas or other cleaning agent...let it drain and install it...test...

If you still have the oil accumulating, have a shop do a compression test to see if you have faulty rings or valves...there is another test...drip down(?) that can tell you a bit more about the engine condition but check the cannister out first...
