The throttle sticks, usually in 3rd gear and usually around 3000 rpms. Even when I let my foot off the gas and put in neutral or push the clutch, the rpms stay around 3000 RPMs and sometimes even climb.

I lubed the hell out of the linkage with WD-40, but the problem persists.

The other day when it did it, the Check Engine light came on for a split second, but then went off. It hasn't come back on since, though, even with the problem persisting.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You have cruise control? Check those linkages too, otherwise it sounds like maybe a vacuum leak?

Haha, no, no cruise control. It's almost as if cruise control is on but I don't have any. :/

How do i check for a vacuum leak?

Are you sure you don't have a Toyota???

All joking aside, chick the linkages from pedal to throttle plate. If there is ANY major binding, lube it up well.

get the floor mat out..... pull the intake boot off and check the throttle plate for gum, check linkage, check to make sure it isn't running really rich

Vacuum leak means air getting into the intake somewhere after the MAF. a small tube disconnected or a cracked hose it coudl be anywhere.
