I've found a great deal on a receiver hitch for my truck (94, B3000) but according to the application guide it will only fit the 8' bed and not the 6' bed. Does anyone know what the difference between the two is?

the difference between a shortbed and longbed is usually between the rear axle and the cab, the distance between the rear axle and the back bumper is the same. you said 8' bed though, a 8' bed would be a full-size longbed, ranger/mazda longbeds are 7'. are you sure this hitch in question is for a ranger/mazda small-chassis truck and not a fullsize?

not too sure about the differences, but i'm putting the same or very similar hitch ,which has those guidelines (8' bed), on my truck as well. I'll let you know what I had to do to make it fit, but it's not too much work.

Well I was wrong, it was a huge PITA and had to do a little modifications to allow the removal of the spare tire. Same with getting the hitch on. I would suggest getting a hitch that is made to fit your truck before trying this out.
