Hey guys, just got my first Ranger: '92 2.3 5 spd with 55k and I'm in the process of repairing all the wear and tear things that are currently plaguing the truck. Recently I had to replace the brake master after the brakes let go on me and afterward the ABS light came on. After searching around it seems like the culprit may be the rear sensor on the diff but I was wondering if it may be something more minor than that since it only came on AFTER I replaced the cylinder.

The second issue I'm having is s stumble in the idle which, after replacing the spark plugs and wires today I think is related to an unplugged vacuum line coming out of a box-shaped canister to the left (driver's side) of the engine bay right next to the radiator (it's on the rad support right next to the radiator). I have no idea what the box is nor do I know where the line coming from it goes and was wondering if anybody on here knew?

I haven't looked it up, but I think that box you are talking about is a fuel reclamation unit, or something like that. Does it have something like two rubber flaps on it?

Also, there is an ABS sensor right under the driver's door. You'll have to test that and possibly bleed it.

Might also want to double check your grounds at the battery. Not sure if it's the same as our 89 bII, but the neg terminal has about 5 extra pigtails hanging off it. One of them feeds the ground for the ABS unit. It got rotted out and the light was 'on' when I purchased the truck. Fixed the wire and it switched off the light.

Make sure your brake lights are working after putting in a new master cylinder. A failed switch will also make your ABS light come on. The rear sensor rarely goes bad in these trucks.
