Fuel gagde prob

i have an 88 ranger and had aways had problems with fuel gagde when in the tank it would read when it wanted too out of the tank it worked fine so now i just put in a plastic tank out of a 97 and wont read the levals any ideas sending units look the same.
 
maybe you need to add a ground wire being a plastic tank and are you sure the fuel pump is working. Do you have two fuel pumps if so make sure the in tank pump is working or you will burn out the high pressure pump. The sender in the tank provides ground to the guage check that you have about 8 volts pulsing going to the fuel sender with the key on.
 
I believe the newer in tank pump is a high pressure pump and you won`t need the one under the cab let us know what you figure out.

The in tank pump works fine but i will add a ground and see what happens letu know if it works thanks

:temper::temper:i addded the ground and have the 8 oum pulse and still nothing
