so im trying to get my stock pitmen arm off my 90, i need to put my superlift 4in drop pitmen arm on. i cant get this damn thing off. ive tryed a pitmen arm puller and a pipe wrench with no luck. do i break out the impact and a big socket? anyone know the size of the nut? i used the pipe wrench and smashed my tumb:annoyed: its nice and purple. i have vowed i will win lol:icon_rofl:

Impact gun. Screw the pipe wrench, I always go straight for the impact gun. Except with ball joints. I grab the air chisel first, if that won't get them out, then I get the ball joint press and the gun.

Got mine off using a 3' breaker bar with an impact socket attached to it. Not sure of the size? But I know we used a CV joint hub socket.

We also busted 3 pullers trying to get the arm off. Wound up finally getting a full refund (advance auto hates me LOL...) Went with the napa discount brand and it didn't break.

(yeah..it came off and the newer gear box is in)

You have the nut off and are trying to remove the pitman arm itself with the puller?

Tighten the puller down as hard as you can, then smack the ever love'in hell outta the end of the puller. Tighten down again and repeat until it comes off.

i mean i can even get the nut to bust loose.. looks like its time for the impact gun :headbang:

the size of the nut is 1 5/16"

the size of the nut is 1 5/16"

i have a cheap 32mm that fits and a good 32mm that doesnt. 1-5/16 is just a hair bigger so thats probably what the "real" size is supposed to be

I have a 1" impact. Nothing resists it.

go ahead and check for cracks in the sector shaft while the arm is off, thats where larry had a failure on Chinamans gulch and the new box he bought had hairline cracks in it too.
