Hope I'm not breaking protocol, because it's a question I also posted in the Mazda section, but it's the same transmission as the 1994 Ranger and I'm rushing to find an answer (need to get the truck back together, it's my only transportation for work). Anyway, I just removed the manual transmission from my 94 B2300 and noticed that the input shaft is a little wobbly in the bearing. Is this normal? I can replace the bearing, but would rather not if it's not necessary. Also, is this bearing supposed to be packed with grease? It appears that oil is supposed to flow through the bearing instead, but my knowledge is very limited with manual transmissions. Thanks for any help!

mine was loose as well...maybe 1/16" of play on the end of it up and down/side to side. I beleive it is fairly difficult to replace it, and there isnt any grease in it...just tranny oil splashed on it. I just threw mine back together and its working fine.

mine will wobble hardcore when i take it apart it shouldnt hurt anything. mine WILL RUN FOREVER haha

Most have a bit of wobble. When you should be concerned is when it starts sounding like you have a rod knock when the truck is idling in neutral until you push the clutch in.

Probably more of a PITA than it's worth to replace it unless it starts making alot of noise. At which point you just buy a rebuild kit and do the whole thing.

Thanks, guys... just saved me some time and money.
