Ignition problem

I have a 92 Ranger with the 2.3L, 5 speed manual. Was just driving home from work, cruising along at 60 mph and the truck just died. Down shifted to 3rd and let out the clutch to see if it would catch, NO GO. Pulled off the hwy and tried to start it, NO GO. Starter turns it over. Jist filled up with gas 10 min earlier. Checked the 60 amp ignition fuse and it seems ok, swapped it with the 60 amp panel fuse and still NO GO. Anyone have any ideas?

Same thing happened to me last week. Found I had broken a timing belt on my 96 2.3L. Fortunately I wasn't doing 60 at the time. I know my 96 is a non-intereference engine (pistons cannot hit valves), but I'm not sure about the 92's. Maybe someone else can help you there.

If it's just the belt, no big deal, took me about 2 hours to replace and on on the road again.

I'm pretty sure that all the 2.3s where non-interference.

Timing belt is a good bet, pop the cover and crank it, see if the belt moves.
